09.00- 11.00 – Emergency Triage Hubs

The numbers keep rising as the numbers of ships is now about 21 to 30 ships. Hecate has crossed the humanitarian capacity threshold. The walls were echoing with pain and cries, as doctors, nurses both Starfleet and Civilians rush through the set-up emergency triage. Heat lamps were placed by engineers, biobeds were hastily filled, and supply crates were used as working stations. The line of civilians line up, some unconscious and others feverish.

Wiping his forehead as the elder, Andorian did his best to provided medical aid. Kossaal eyes shifts to the right, seeing the supplies of rationing getting lower and lower. The replicators were struggling with keeping up, and people demand was climbing sharply. It was his command, his choice to choose who must receive the medical care, basic care first, even if it means sacrificing those that might not make it. “Get those needles to Nurse Kwaigno” He orders a nurse as he kept his focus on bandaging the freshly cut off leg. To be fair, he didn’t want to do it, but the damage was too severe.

He looked at the direction the nurse was rushing to, Theetika standing there with a calm yet stern posture guiding those that need it. He was impressed with her, she has been breaking down the shift rotations to prevent staff to get overwhelmed with the amount of work that was building up. But he could see it on her, she was on the verge of collapse, was it his duty to tell her to take a break? Technically it was, but the practical point of it all, Kwaigno would twist the table and state the obvious that he requires rest as well. He looked back at the patient, “Keep yourself strong, I am almost done”.

On the other side Dacio and Adham of the Science division were there to help out, science by nature they had to support the medical staff on disease control. Scanning those that were wounded to potential caught any dangerous disease to be isolated. But Dacio had a second objective in this all, the potential danger of a Vaadwaur agent being hidden among the crowd of wounded.

“Get the latest replicated goods to cargo bay 15” Ryom stood there guiding the enlisted personnel as he looked at a few ladies standing there, “You want to volunteer?” They nodded to his question “Then help out with stretcher work and any kind of comfort care, the children need to calm down” He directed them.

14.00-16.00 – Corridors near the Habitat Ring

Voices of crying children echo throughout the corridor, flickering lights as Starfleet enlisted personnel try to guide families towards newly cleared bunks. Ryom looked at his side, relocated already from his previous assignment “Get the family to bunk-1229” he saw his junior moves with a nod in his direction. He gave a soft smiled towards the family as he inhales a deep breath, letting the calm flow over him. He needed to keep his focus, and these people needed his guidance.

Ryom looked at one of the newly made bunks where Adham was busy, “How is it going, Lieutenant?”

Clicking the panel, Adham looked over his shoulder “The atmospheric filtration unit is outdated, I need to alert engineering to replace it as soon as possible”

“That is a no for usage of this bunk for the time being?” Ryom concluded.

A nod came from his direction, “I try my best to fix what I can, but some elements need to be replaced and redirected” He taps the console as Adham activates an internal scan to get a better understanding of the situation.

17.00-19.00 – Secondary Medical Overflow

The former crew gymnasium was converted with cots and medical equipment. The emergency light panels were activated and field diagnostic gear were rolled in. Refugees are packed shoulder-to-shoulder waiting for their medical care to come. Heat and stress was rising as Theetika took a brief second for herself to get some rest, she taps on the PADD and hands it over to a nurse “Overflow ward protocols are established, we have to do with what we have” Which was not a lot, Dacio was there to help out on the diagnostic part and she and two other nurses did the medical basic care.

A civilian pushes himself sneaky to the front of the line, waiting to get his treatment that he wants. But to his own demise, Theetika saw this happening and approach him, “Nurse? Am I up next?” No one truly wanted to say what was up their mind, but the growls and muttering about it was clearly present.

Theetika narrows her eyes, “Do you think this is a privilege, a joke to you?” She was angry, rightfully so “Get back in line, you get your turn and if you try this bullshit again, I will get you removed from the medical wards” She was not joking around now, the man was shocked and with the people looking at him, he raised his hands surrendering to the attack that the nurse gave him going back in line.

“Are you okay, Chief?” A nurse spoke softly.

She rubs her template and nods, “Sorry, this is getting to me” Theetika barely kept it together as the people were still lining up.

What happened?”

The voice came from the panel as Ryom looked back at the panel “It has been taken care off, nothing to worry about Captain” A child had been close to him as he pets her head to get her to calm down, he didn’t mind for now.

Alright, get housing expanded for the lower decks, Commander Deem is already trying to see what is possible. Kobahl out”.

Ryom shrugs and nodded, another level for more people to store. Hecate was already over its limit in providing refugees with some basic care. Ryom looked at the child and smiled, “Let’s find your parents”.

20.00-21.00 – Upper Promenade Observation Alcove

The area was quiet, space was all visible around it, seeing the dozens of ships. Scarred, drifting, waiting. Low lighting reflected of stars on the floor. As Ryom walked onto the dock, seeing Kossaal leaning on the bulk of one of the windows. The approaches the good doctor and offers him a protein bar “You will need it” He said looking out the window to a damage ship that was leaking plasma out of one of the engines.

“Here I thought that the Syndicate was brutal, this is a whole new level that we were not expecting” Kossaal showed fatigue, but mostly worry as he took the bar.

“What I understand is that we got to accept disappointments and live with what we have” Ryom was not trying to be poetic about it, but in a sense it felt right. “Syndicate control was a whole different issue, working in the shadows as this….this is brought to us in daylight”

Taking a bite of the bar looking at the ships, “I wonder whether Hecate can keep up with this” a question that lingers as well with Ryom.
