The Triage Camp

The smell of iron and ashes, the sound of rain that was hitting the plastic that protected somewhat the patient that were moaning in the makeshift medical zone near the mining site. The dusty area was transformed into a muddy sight, people were being treated by tired Starfleet officers and enlisted. Vaadwaur guards were patrolling the area, not paying a bit to the Starfleet away team doing their work, they were after all not a threat.

Moving to the next patient, Silina was covered in wipes of blood, she was focus on her duty. To save lives and buying time for Gemini to do their thing. Find the other officers and get them out of here. She looked around briefly while attending to the patient needs. This medical area was not perfect, far from it, it was a death sentence if they were not here. But her mind remained on the focus, patch up what she could.

“Captain” a voice came from behind Silina.

Turning to the voice, she saw a tired doctor. A fellow doctor that she now fully recognized in the skills she had shown in the field. “What’s wrong Commander?”

Viamame looked at her side “A nurse is on the brink of a burnout, these Vaadwaur are pushing us to a line that might cause a reaction that can’t be pulled back” She knew that reference was clear as day, there was a limit for every officer, and it was coming in reach. Beyond that, blood will be tasted on either side.

Taking a breath and nodding to the patient “Do rest” She stood up and looked at Viamame “Get the nurse to the bunks, she needs rest, and we focus on what happens when it happens. We can only do so much, it is painful, and I know well that this is the price we pay for upholding our oath” Silina felt the bitterness in her own voice.

Looking at a Vaadwaur who stood up and kicks a nurse onto the ground “Useless bug, tomorrow’s discipline will remind you all what obedience is” With a scoff he walks away ignoring the mess he left behind, he simply didn’t care.

Both Viamame and Silina helped the nurse up to her feet, Silina wiping the tears away. “Shh, calm down, it is okay” Silina did her best to calm her down. “Go with the Commander and get some rest.” Silina saw the nurse being guided to the bunk with guidance of Viamame and took a deep breath. Holding herself together was difficult enough, but to keep a cool head while her team was suffering was a whole new level.

USS Gemini – Bridge

The lights were dimmed, the crew were focus, yet there was a tense vibe in the air, every alert is a potential trigger that would surge them into position. They were not in an ideal situation, surrounded by the Vaadwaur, things were dire.

Drata nods in the direction of Keeyiro and spoke up towards Ko “Commander, we have done a wide analyzing of the deflector-assisted scans, we can confirm that we found biosigns in an underground base” Drata swipes the info towards Ko seat “We found them”

Opening her eyes, Ko was waiting for this. The facade of a humanitarian mission was coming to a closure. They had found their people. Looking in the direction of Drata “Provide the green light to all stations, Gemini will create a solid distraction for extraction” Taking a deep breath looking at the screen seeing the planet “But Captain Ruslanovna need to ensure the local chaos to masks the action”.

Looking at her screen, Keeyiro types out the message, “Extraction window: 12 minutes. Confirm readiness” done, sent on a low-bandwidth, encrypted message towards the away team “message delivered” She confirmed.

The Triage Camp

The time had come, at the industrial edge of the camp, the night shimmers down as some away team manage to deceive the Vaadwaur only to be heading to the chemical storage tanks. Silina had received the message and had authorized Miki and Suto to initiate the distraction. The plan is simple, a small chain reaction explosion in the ore processing tank.

Meanwhile, Viamame stood with the guards, “But I need access to the supplies to be able to help your fellow soldiers. If I am unable to do so, it most likely will be your head that will be served to your commander” Viamame saw their irritated facial expression, but hers stays neutral.

“Fine, what you need”

“Well, I require quite a bit; bandages, alizine, morphenolog, stokaline, some inaprovaline and stasis field patches” Viamame continued the list of things she actually didn’t need, but the distraction was working.

With some brief modifications, Suto nodded towards Miki that they needed to go. The two rushed away from the tanks as only a few minutes later. The chemical reaction that was brought into action, caught on. The explosion rips through the camp perimeter and drawn out the Vaadwaur guards and leaders away.

In the mids of the chaos, Gemini manages to beam out the hostages during the chaos through the momentary sensor window that was provided and well-timed by the crew.

The explosion just happened, back at the medical zone Vaadwaur were shouting, distant alarms were going off. Miki and Suto just had returned with a satisfied nod towards Silina who was already glad enough that her team was safe. They kept their professional nature up and acted surprise by the explosion.

But a sudden projection appears at the camp that draws the attention of the away team, the sick and wounded. There he was, Commander Vekiron, the Vaadwaur looked calm and yet his eyes were pure venomous “Impressive sleight of hand, Captain”.

Silina narrows her eyes, “What are you talking about? What happened? Do we need to assist?”

He chuckles, “I think you have assisted enough, I wonder… whose blood must now balance your scales?” Vekiron was not in the mood for games, his eyes were locked on Silina, who remained in her act of being oblivious of what just happened. “For every stolen asset, a lesson will be taught at dawn” The projection disappears, leaving the away team behind.

Miki stands at Silina side, “We need to get out…”

Taking a deep breath, she walks into the darkened area of the camp, exhausted and angry. Silina had to make a difficult choice, the act was a success in a way, but she didn’t know who will pay the price “Get ready to leave” Both Suto and Miki nodded to her.
