Location: USS Oakland, Corridors to Engineering

Isabel was walking down the corridors after receiving their orders. The mission was pretty self-explanatory deliver supplies take a few scans and then head home. Do not engage is the primary lesson she’s understanding from the mission.

Her next stop would be engineering. If you wanted to make sure that the engines are at peak efficiency because they might need to get out of there in a hurry.

The Oakland wasn’t the fastest ship in the fleet but they need to leave be able to get her to orphe and sustain it to give him a better opportunity to vacate the area quickly if they need to. Typically the ship travels around warp 5.

And she works certainly by herself, she started to think about her career in Starfleet. And how lonely it felt that times. Part of her giving up so much in order to advance her career at such a young age. But now she felt like maybe she needed more. She knew other first officers had families, so why didn’t she? Why did you focus so hard on ranking up versus starting a family. It was a decision that was starting to haunt her.

For the moment she could allow her mind to think about it because of the fact that it’s going to take her a few minutes to get down to engineering. As first officer it wouldn’t be really appropriate for her to date anybody on the Oakland. I mean if she had it pre-existing relationship prior to her joining the Oakland it would have been acceptable but as a first officer she needed to maintain a level of professionalism and distance from the crew.

Now granted Starfleet was a mass organization and there would be opportunities for her, she just wasn’t sure how to go about it. But I felt like she didn’t want to rush things and she had feeling that if an opportunity presented itself, she would be open to it.

For the moment that you’d have the table her feelings, and focus on the mission at hand. She was almost the engineering by this point. She started to think about what Lila Davies was like, her chief engineer for the Oakland.

Her encounters with her had been pretty positive and open. He was a little bit of a pistol whip type personality. But that necessarily wasn’t a bad thing, she needed to help hone in her skills and learn how to communicate a little bit better with certain person now. But communicating with personal is not ever and easy thing given the fact that everybody comes from diverse background.

Location: USS Oakland,

There had been a minor incident in stellar cartography were one of the consoles was malfunctioning and sending off false report indicating that somebody was trying to break into the facility. This required the attention of security.

Stella met up with Erica Jones the chief science officer. “Hey Erica, and your certain nobody’s been in this room correct?” Stella has said she walked over to the consulate question and could see that the console was acting out, it was loading and unloading programs at random it clearly was malfunctioning.

“Correct, we just ran a diagnostic program and then started doing that.” Erica said if you pointed out the display console and how it was going back and forth constantly opening programs and closing programs at random. Clearly it was some kind of malfunction with the software update.

“Doesn’t really seem to be much of a security risk just seems to be a faulty software update. I was strongly suggest talking to Ensign Blackwell about coming down here and think he can fix it for you.” Stella suggested with a big grin on her face.

“Had already called him he should be here shortly, sorry you had to make the trip down here Stella.” Erica said feeling slightly embarrassed but I also understanding that Stella had a job to do.

“Not an issue for me, I like hanging out with my friends. You know I can’t stay very long time I can stay at least for a few minutes to make sure everything is good to go. I know that the captain wants this console fix immediately cuz we’re going to need stellar cart when it comes to try to map out and figure out where the Tal Shair are hiding.” Erica said being slightly annoyed at the whole situation.

“Hey don’t be annoyed, these things happen. And hey look at it this way it happened so I can come down here and hang out with my buddy for a few minutes”

“Well that is a good way of looking at it.” Erica said with a big grin on her face. She hadn’t considered Stella’s point of view, she’s right it is a good opportunity for the two of them to catch up a little bit even though they’re both working that’s a situation presented itself you might as well take full advantage of it.

“I noticed that and our Second Officer and our Chef are beginning a little close.” Erica said with a slight grin on her face.”

“I noticed that as well, I think they’re a cute little couple.” Stella said, he then continued on. “I’m happy for both of them, I know soon I’ll meet somebody I just don’t know when exactly yet.”

“You have a lot to offer a potential partner, any guy in the ship will be lucky to have you or any guy in the fleet for that matter.” Erica pointed out to her with the big grin on her face.

“I hear you, hey and you know the same goes for you. And I’m not just saying that to be patronizing or just to be agreeable but you’re a good person and you’re going to find somebody. The only person I’m concerned about is our first officer I know she’s single cuz I overheard her talk to somebody about it not too long ago. Let’s not be like her we need to find relationships if we’re going to have a family. Well I appreciate the fact that she’s sacrificed so much to become first officer I don’t want to lose track of my ultimate goals, I want to start a family but I also want to be part of Starfleet.” Stella suggested to her, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to start a family immediately but if she didn’t start the idea of considering it she probably never would.

“You think so? I don’t know if I really like any of the guys on that ship. I mean I respect him and I think they’re all good people just I’m not feeling that special connection with anybody.” Erica suggested to her.

“Well you’re not alone in that feeling, I know that sounds mean because there are a lot of really good guys on this ship but I’m just not feeling a connection to them. But maybe my standards are set way too high I don’t know.” Stella said wondering if she’s being too harsh on a lot of these guys as potential mates.

“Here I thought I was alone in that. I’m glad to see if not just me.” Erica said, but then she realized that the door switched open and Draven was walking in. He was one of the guys she was talking about he was nice, I needed attractive but she had no desire for him.

Draven walked over to Erica. “So you’re saying it happened when the data pad updated the console?”

“Yes, that’s what I noticed it.” Erica said as she walked over to the terminal of the show and the terminal was still bugging out.

“I assume you have isolated the data. As a precaution?” Draven asked, wanted to make sure no other systems were affected.

“Yes, I put it in a container right over there away from any console terminals.” Erica said is she pointed with her hand over to a container pod.

“Well give me a couple minutes to isolate this terminal and isolate my equipment so they don’t affect the rest of the ship until this console doesn’t affect my equipment too.” Draven said as he walked over to the terminal and started to take off the display panel and then he started to adjust his equipment on the tricorder.

In the meantime still at Erica looked at each other. “Will continue our conversation we had earlier at a later time.” Stella suggested, because she didn’t want to make Draven feel unwelcome.

“Agreed.” Simply replied Erica with a big smile on her face. “New topic, you think that’s the last we’ve seen of the Vaadwaur?” She asked if she looked over to Stella.

“I hope so, at least now Starfleet has some kind of defense against that blackout. And I hope those seals hold and keep under space locked out of the alpha quadrant for the time being.” Stella said with slight concern in her tone

“I can’t believe how fast it all happened, seems like we’re not getting a break around here. I wish I could have been an officer back in the ’60s, I heard that was the golden years of Starfleet exploration program. Now it seems like every year we’re fighting off a new enemy.” Erica pointed out to Stella.

“I don’t know if I don’t want to live during that time. How do you go from the golden years to being introduced to the Borg, being introduced to the dominion, to be reintroduced to the Borg again and then now the Vaadwaur?” I don’t know how I feel about that. I think we’re right at the place we need to be in the time that we need to be in it, if that makes sense.” Stella said, hoping that Erica was able to follow that type of logic. Because she was struggling to follow it herself, even though she knew what she was trying to say.

“That’s a good way of looking at it, but still I wonder what it was like. But you’re probably right, we’re here for a reason and this is the time that the universe decided we should be here.” Erica said trying to see her point, maybe she was right. Maybe this was the time she was meant to be here.

Draven was listening in, he debated about saying something but right now he was trying to isolate the terminal and he could tell that it was a faulty software glitch. He isolated it and then reacted the mainframe of the computer and re-downloaded the current software update and this time it worked better so while the two ladies are talking and gave him a few minutes to resolve the situation with the terminal. “And fixed.”

“That was pretty quick, you don’t waste time.” Erica said with a big smile on her face, she really appreciated the fact that he didn’t waste any time in fixing it.

“I tried not to, is there anything else you need me to do in here. Lyla wants me to head into engineering next I guess she has a couple terminals that are acting out. You know those corner if you know they didn’t do a really good job putting this ship back together but hey give me a lot to do I guess.” Draven said trying to stay positive throughout this whole process.

“Yeah they’re known for rushing through thanks, but luckily for us we have the best operations officer in the fleet helping us, right?” Erica said if she looked over to stella, she’s trying to stroke the guys to go a little bit because if she needed help again she wanted him to come back immediately cuz she liked the fact that he wasted little time.

“totally the best operations officer in the fleet.” Stella said as a scene starts to fade away.

Location: USS Oakland, Bridge

Good news Commander Robinson, Stellar Cartography just came back online, we can increase our sensor range once again.” Tolis said from the Helmsman station.

“That is wonderful news indeed, by all means let’s increase our sensor range.” Isabel said as she looked around the room to the bridge crew that was currently on duty.

“Aye Commander, do you want me to notify the captain?” Tolis asked. He wasn’t sure if she was going to do it, cuz it was his personal administration time.

“Yes I have it, just maintain our course for now and let’s increase our sensors.” Isabel pointed out as they continue to on course for the Talvath System.

Tolis recalled his pleasant encounter with Thracia. She was definitely a nice andorian female. It was nice to have somebody from the Homeworld on the ship, it allowed him to stay grounded in their own culture and customs and beliefs but at the same time someone to talk to. He likes Starfleet and he liked all the diversity but there were times where it was nice just to talk about home.

Isabel had completed her to her she did go down to engineering and after engineering she came back up to the bridge to relieve the captain so he could do his administration time. She enjoyed her conversation with Lila Davies. And I stated before she is a little bit of a firecracker, with the pistol whip like attitude. But that was a good thing in her eyes. I meant that she was very passionate about her duties and about this ship.

Location: USS Oakland, Mess Hall

Riana walked into the mess hall. It was a little early for the main rush a personnel to come in. This was the crew favorite place to go to eat because nobody likes to eat at the replicators.

And she was no exception. She immediately started head towards the serving table where Andrea was serving. Andrea wasn’t expecting any of the officers to be coming in right this second. But when she looked at her and she knows she was a low ranking Ensign.

“Welcome to my humble abode, you must be new to the ship I don’t think I’ve seen you around before.” Andrea said with the warm smile as she looked towards Riana.

“I just came aboard at Starbase bravo. I’m a recent transfer.” Riana advised, with the big smile on her face. Even though she was only the assistant chief counselor, she was still excited to be given an assistant role. Plus it also allowed her to be close to her sister again. And at some point the ship would be heading over to Overwatch station. And then she’ll be able to meet her sister there.

“Welcome aboard, you haven’t missed much we just launched not too long ago got caught in the tail end of that incident regarding the Vaadwaur. Seeing that you’re wearing a heel uniform so you must either be in medical or science.” Andrea suggested waiting for her to advise her which field she was exactly in.

“Any assistant chief counselor actually that’s why I was brought a board, your guys’s cancer is amazing but there’s a lot of you and only one of them. So I’m here to help out.” Riana pointed out to Andrea.

“You’re not just here to help out, you’re part of the crew now that which means you’re going to be part of our family. I know some point you’re probably going to take a promotion and become cheap counselor of a ship or station but until then you’re going to be one of us you’re going to be part of our family and even when you do leave you still give me part of this family.” Andrea pointed out to her, wanting her to understand that she was valued and appreciated as a person.

‘that is very nice of you to say, and I’m happy to hear that. I almost forgot what it was like to have a chef on board my last assignment didn’t have one, let me tell you it was some hard times eating that replicator food over and over again.” Riana said, thinking to herself that this is a good time to fix past mistakes. Last time she didn’t take her previous assignment as feeling like home. Maybe she did she would enjoy it more instead of trying to prove that she was Worthy. But she also knew that was part of who she was. She always felt like she had to belong or to prove herself.

“You poor tragic thing, let’s make sure that never happens again.” Andrea

said with the big smile on her face as a two ladies continue talking for a while. The scene starts to fade away.
