She sat there and stared at the fish tank, she smiled and tapped on the screen. It was the wall between her office and the ICU Ward.

“CMO’s Log, God I hate doing these. Supplemental.” she paused and looked at the new fish hiding in the corner. She became fixated. “The Medical Patients showed no difference… they were like fish… like this tetra. What should I name this tetra? Hmmm… it is female, her rectal fin is longer, and more ornate…. Let’s hope the guppies don’t go after her. Let’s Name her BECKY!”

She paused for a minute, put her hands to her face and and motioned like a fish and went “Bloop Bloop. OH! Right Official Log. So anyway, the patient’s were transferred to DS47 for monitoring and stabilization, though honestly my recommendation was to put them in stasis until we could confirm what was going on with them.

“With the absence of Delta band waves in their thought processes they are essentially husks. The Ship is enroute to SB 93 to resume our investigation, hopefully we won’t cause a diplomatic incident…” She became distracted again…

“Who’se a pretty fishie?” she was mesmerized.

“Damnit!” she exclaimed. “Computer end log!”

“Note to self, do the log in personal quarters…” Meila picked up her lab coat and rushed to the urgency happening in the main sickbay.

“What’s going on?” she asked.

“Phaser fire on the holodeck, no safeties.” the nurse said.  The red headed young patient sat on the bio bed cupping her wound. Her rank was Lieutenant, and from what Meila could see, from their personnel record this was the new Security Chief.

“That will be all nurse Odawa.” Dismissing the Nurse Meila turned her gaze looking over to Lt. Walton, picking up a padd for information, “Elisabeth Walton, Lieutenant, you are scheduled for Alpha and Beta tomorrow. Want to tell me what’s going on?”

“There is nothing going on.” she said in her British accent. “I just got shot.”

“I see, do you usually practice with no safeties?” Meila asked.

“Yes.”

“I see. Well from reading your record this is your first ‘Senior’ position. You are going to have many capable souls under you. Please for their sake, and for their training purposes practice with safeties on.” Meila reached for the sanitizer and laser sucher, “You are their senior officer now, you have to lead by example.”

“Yes Doctor.” Liz looked down.

“There you go, all bandaged up. Please don’t do this again.” Meila said.
