“Ah, we meet again, Commander!” Theran Jos’ bright casual smile and buoyant personality was only matched by the fact that he had brought tasty pastries and a shareable pot of raktajino to this meeting.

“Coffee… my best friend. I personally like me a Iced Coffee.” Minh held up her tumbler.

He settled in before a holodisplay that had the training parameters displayed. “I’m guessing we got some upsetting feedback from Cadet Squadron Alpha’s shakedown cruise to the Faulterra Highlands.”

Seismic activity on Faulterra VI had done far more damage to one of the colony’s major cities than expected. The early warning system triggered too late to complete an evacuation and a significant portion of the population had been caught in a massive earthquake. Casualties were much higher than expected and despite the scene being well within Federation space and completely secured, the cadet were not prepared for the levels of injures and chaos they encountered.

“Understandable, that is very traumatic to see. Have they received their Trauma 101 yet?” Minh looked over their padd. “What about Psych-evals?” she read on… “My lord! I understand the need for this program now.”

“I can see it, too. But I’m a bit raw on the idea of training.” Theran drew a breath in through his teeth and shook his antennae in a ‘no’ gesture. “I have only done one on one training for surgical assistants so far. This is my first time trying to craft a training simulation.”

“I should talk to the Academy Commandant, I do not want people going onto the field, without at least a basic trauma or a psych eval. Especially medical students. I will notify Psychiatry and Counselling to make the necessary arrangements for the Cadets. But there is only so far a program can prepare them.”

The neurosurgeon nodded an assent. “Good call.” and then he slowly drew in a breath. “Though as a specialty surgeon, I do have to admit that even with the most recalcitrant doctors, getting some triage practice in is still valuable.”

“Right we should get down to business, I think we should do a basic attack here, by the Dominion. Anything more and we run the risk of an interstellar incident. We can have a basic attack on the station and than afterwards have the psychiatric aspect on an analysis basis.” Minh was looking at her padd. “What do you think?”

He rocked on his feet a bit. “Dominion attack?  That’s pretty critical, I like it.” He paused and considered. “I think for a specific scenario we should focus on triage basics with just enough danger that they remember to check the situation before running in. how should we set that up?”

“I’m not a holo-engineer, I am a psychologist, give me something I would be good at.” she paused… “What if we have the injured coming in from a Houdini Attack and than they attack the sickbay. I remember hearing that not even Medical Facilities were safe during the Dominion War.”

“I know, right?  You don’t want to scare them away or traumatize them too much. But there’s gotta be some way to give them the right kind of wake up call when it comes to triage.” Theran leaned forward looking at the holo-display. Orders were clear, the leadership wanted a training program. The question was what?

“I am really stuck with this, what if we ask for help from someone?” Minh paused for a second. “Like perhaps the actual students?”

Theran’s antennae twined together. “Like survey them or get them to do the work?”

“I think it would be better to survey them, than come back and work on this. What do they feel would benefit them. How would they like to see the program ran. That sort of thing. Than we can iron our the details and get a Holo-Engineer in here with us and get er done!” Minh took a chug of her coffee. “We aren’t delegating we are using our resources.”

“You known if you want to make med students do anything, you’re going to have to offer free raktajino and food.” This was the one constant the med student life, they all liked being bribed by food.

“I am sure we can work something out, I have a few spare food credits that I can ‘donate’ to the project.” she smiled. “What do you think?”

Antennae dipping downwards in a nod, he seemed to agree. “Alright, you bring the snacks, I’ll make the call and we’ll gather the troops. Anything we’re forgetting?”

“Not that I can think of, see you in a couple of hours.” Minh smiled.
