The USS Mercury is an Obena-class emissary. She forms a part of Sirius Squadron, where her role in exploration missions are focused on her capabilities as a diplomatic platform. Though favoured as a first contact specialist, she is also highly capable in building relationships with newer and developing contacts with the Federation, and expanding exploratory operations through diplomatic relationships. Under the command of the seasoned Captain Taviel Daragon, Mercury’s experienced crew take on a traditional approach of seeking out new civilisations and extending the warm hand of the Federation.

Sirius Expeditionary Squadron is a unit centered around the Odyssey-class USS Sirius under the command of Commodore Matt Rourke and oversight of Director of Squadron Operations Vice Admiral Owen Morgan. Sirius Squadron stands ready to deploy outside or at the fringes of Federation territory at short notice to respond to emerging situations across the galaxy. With multiple versatile and powerful ships at its disposal, the squadron can operate independently and without support for extended periods, and is flexible enough to face a range of missions, including under volatile circumstances where objectives and conditions can quickly change. While this profile often leads Sirius Squadron to respond to geopolitical crises, the unit’s versatility make it equally suited emergent scientific investigations.
The squadron is based out of Gateway Station, in the Midgard Sector, which provides logistical support and operational and administrative leadership.
The HQ unit is organised around the Sirius herself, supported by her attached ship Alhabor. Four additional divisions provide specialist support:
The divisions may deploy independently or in support of one another, depending on operational needs.

The Blackout was down. But the battle for Alpha Centauri wasn’t over. The bridge of the Endeavour was a storm barely held at bay. Emergency lights glowed hostile red across consoles, some of them cracked and sparking. Bulkheads groaned under strain. Officers moved with practiced urgency, the [...]

The lift ascended through the narrow shaft of emergency lights and vibrating metal. Beneath their feet, the pulsing hum of the outpost’s core reverberated through the station’s spine, a thudding heartbeat of engineering that made Rosewood’s teeth itch. Beside him, Ranicus checked her weapon [...]

Beyond the reinforced canopy of the Blackbird’s bridge, Underspace twisted and pulsed, a copper maelstrom of compressed subspace and rippling distortions. They had traded one form of chaos for another, the dazzling spectacle of starships ablaze in the name of Alpha Centauri swapped for this. That [...]
