USS Melbourne

Nebula-class • NCC-71944 • Columbia Explorer Division • Task Force 17 • Managed by FCAPT Noli Auru

In the vast expanse of space, where exploration meets discovery, the USS Melbourne has become a workhorse as she takes on a variety of mission profiles across Federation space and beyond. Even as her class ceases production after forty-years of reliable service, Melbourne‘s versatile mission pod adds to her impressive mission capabilities, making her an integral asset in Task Force 21’s mission of frontier exploration and colonial support.

Only the second vessel to proudly bear the name throughout Starfleet’s illustrious history, Melbourne was launched in late 2372, a successor to her Excelsior-class predecessor. With decommissioning looming at the end of 2402, Captain Elara Quinn and her crew set forth on their final mission to push the boundaries of scientific understanding and to explore strange new frontiers.

The stories of Columbia Explorer Division are rated 2-2-2 for mature subject matter, including some moderate violence, language and sexual content.

Columbia Explorer Division

Columbia Explorer Division of Task Force 17 focuses on the adventures of the starships Columbia, Melbourne and Santa Fe as they explore the galaxy, respond to crises and proudly fly the flag for the Federation. Formed in the aftermath of the Black Market crisis of 2401, Columbia Division is composed of starships capable of carrying out the various roles and responsibilities dictated by the mandate of the United Federation of Planets. The composition of vessels assigned to the squadron is such that virtually any objective can be completed, whether within the confines of Federation space, or far from safety in far-flung areas of the known galaxy.

Under siege and devastated by the massive Vaadwaur assault on the system, Andoria now resembled something of a pyre among the stars. Hunger. Capable of turning the sweetest of individuals into a vitriolic, hate-filled mess, hunger had the power to destroy friendships. Okay, maybe that last part was an exaggeration, for most anyway, but for Prida, it was a very real possibility. She’d not eaten in, well, she was so hungry she [...]

Of Ice and Fire

USS Columbia, USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, USS Medea, USS Melbourne, USS Nova and USS Santa Fe

Stunning blue hues converged into one pattern from the transporter buffer, forming a petite humanoid on the platform at the back of Ops. As the figure emerged from the swirling particles, Giarvar’s heart leapt and he gave the broadest smile possible. “Damn glad to see you,” he offered his [...]

Several Hours Earlier… “All hands, this is the Commander…” Stood at the heart of the Columbia bridge, hands on her hips and glaring at the ominous sight before them, Noli Auru pondered her next words carefully. Around her, the bridge crew and their able deputies beavered away, already [...]
