Step aboard the USS Speedwell and join the adventures of Captain Jim Conrad and the crew, as they push beyond the boundaries of Federation - space, ever seeking opportunities for the furtherance of peace and security.
Assigned to duty with the Astute Light Cruiser Division, the nimble USS Speedwell is tasked with the conduct of forward reconnaissance missions in the aftermath of the Vaadwaur invasion, identifying and assessing those in need of humanitarian assistance and monitoring & maintaining border security along the former DMZ.
A Duderstadt – class fast cruiser deployed in scout configuration, the crew of the Astute utilize the vessels best – in – class advanced sensor suite to investigate all types of phenomena both within Federation space and (where required) beyond it’s borders.
Where there is a question that abounds, they call upon the crew of the USS Speedwell to provide the final answer.
Formed in the wake of the Nightfall Incursion into the Alpha & Beta Quadrants by the forces of the Vaadwaur Supremacy, Task Force 72 assigned the Echelon – class Light Cruiser, USS Astute to head up a Rapid Reaction Division along with the Duderstadt – class Fast Cruiser, USS Speedwell.
Together the deployment of both vessels enable Fourth Fleet to maintain patrol duties along the former DMZ and aid in the recovery operations to the many worlds devastated by the Vaadwaur invaders via the USS Astute, whilst the more far – ranging USS Speedwell stands ready to investigate and seek out those in need within and without Federation – space, as Starfleet seeks to heal the lasting wounds of conflict.
